The Peel Regional Police Service made an arrest in a five-month-long investigation involving a series of ATM thefts and break-and-enters.
Another suspect, while police say he has been identified, remains at large.
On Nov. 15, two suspects were travelling in what the police called a “stolen GMC Yukon SUV” and entered a grocery store in the area of Airport Rd and Countryside Dr in Brampton.
“They entered the locked vestibule area, using a long cable hooked it around the ATM,” said Peel police. “The driver then drove away, pulling the ATM off the ground, taking the ATM and cash within.”
On Nov. 21, police say two suspects attended the gas station located at Talbot St and Fairview Ave in the City of St. Thomas.
The following day, the same two suspects went to a grocery store located at Huron and Minnesota St in the Town of Collingwood before attending a variety store at Hwy 124 and McKean Blvd. in the Township of Nottawa.
They were able to steal two of the three ATMs, according to police.
On May 7, Peel officers arrested Joel Sault, a 35-year-old man from Ohsweken. He was charged with four counts of Break and Enter and Commit and released with a court date set for July.
This vehicle that the two suspects used was allegedly stolen from Milton and recovered on the Six Nations Reserve.
Police say the currency was not recovered.
