A man is in hospital after a collision in central Oshawa left them pinned under an SUV.

The man, believed to be in his twenties, was struck west of Oshawa’s King St and Thornton Rd intersection around 7 p.m. March 31.

Durham Regional police closed down King St/Dundas St from Thornton Rd to Whitby’s Gerrard Ave in both directions for more than three hours while they investigated.

Oshawa Fire was also on scene, extricating the man from underneath the car by lifting the SUV with a pneumatic jack. DRPS announced the re-opening of the road shortly before 10 p.m.

Durham paramedic then rushed the man to a Toronto trauma centre for treatment.
