Pedestrian dead after being struck by GO train in Mississauga

A pedestrian was struck and killed by a train in Mississauga on Wednesday.

Emergency crews responded to a report of a person hit at a train crossing at Lorne Park Road and BirchView Drive at approximately 5:20 p.m., Peel Regional Police said.

The crossing is between the Clarkson and Port Credit GO Train stations.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene, a police spokesperson told INsauga.com. Police did not release further information.

GO trains were stopped at the eastbound West Harbour and Aldershot GO stations.

At 9:39 p.m., Metrolinx said the Lakeshore West service had resumed its regular schedule.
