A “game changer” in the pastry scene and modern dessert creations is coming to Downtown Oakville.

Nadège Nourian, a fourth-generation pastry chef born in Lyon, France, is bringing her Toronto-based pastry shop chain Nadège Patisserie to Oakville.

With a cult-like following since opening the first of four Toronto locations in 2009, Nourian has received numerous accolades from critics, the press and the blogosphere for her modern dessert creations.

Nourian has worked at prestigious bakeries all around the world, beginning in France (Brittany and Normandy) and then Sweden and London.

She spent two years in England working for the world-renowned Ivy Restaurant.

“Nadège is clearly viewed as a game changer in Toronto’s pastry scene,” touts their website.

While miniature sandwiches, quiche and viennoiseries and macarons are popular, there’s also variety of tasty baked goods made from scratch that includes croissants, cookies and the gourmet classic croque monsieur made of French ham, cheddar and bechamel between two slices of home made family loaf bread.

Pastry goods include the individual lemon meringue tart with a crunchy pastry base filled with a smooth lemon cream. The acidity of the lemon is “perfectly balanced” by the fluffy sweet meringue.

Or try the individual Classy Affair, which combines decadent flavours like vanilla mousse, flourless chocolate biscuit and whipped ganache dipped in chocolate with cacao nibs.

Chocolate lovers can dig into the individual pur noir. With 70 per cent cru chocolate, the flourless chocolate biscuit provides a base to the light, melt in your mouth, mousse which contains chocolate nibs to indulge the palette with pure chocolate.

Current Nadège Patisserie locations include Queen West, Rosedale, Path Richmond-Adelaide Centre and Bloor-Annex, boutiques.
