Two schools have been partially locked down and three culprits are being hunted by police after a noon-hour carjacking Tuesday in Mississauga’s west end near the QEW.

Oakridge Public School and Holy Name of Mary College School have been placed in hold-and-secure status while three carjackers remain on the loose, Peel Regional Police said.

The two schools are located just off Mississauga Road and several blocks to the east of where the carjacking took place at Roche Court and Fowler Drive. The scene of the car theft is just east of Erin Mills Parkway and steps north of the busy QEW.

Police said a vehicle was stolen by three culprits and subsequently recovered a short distance away a short time later. However, the car thieves ran from the area.

“Officers (are) looking for suspects who fled on foot,” police said in a post to social media.

Investigators added a weapon was “indicated, but not seen” during the carjacking.

The victim was not hurt.
