Outdoor amenities in Oakville that are open during winter

Those who are looking for ways to stay active this winter have plenty of ways to do so in Oakville.

During the winter time, the Town offers a variety of outdoor court options and locations to help residents stay active while having fun.

In terms of tennis and pickleball winter courts, there are seven options. These include Shell Park, Old Abbey Lane Park, Jonathan Park and Maplegrove Park, Bloomfield Park, River Oaks Park, Glenashton Park and William Rose Park.

Shell Park, River Oaks Park and William Rose Park are lit until 8:00 p.m.

In terms of basketball, the town offers 19 outdoor basketball courts for residents, with seven half courts and 12 full courts. Lighting is available at Glen Abbey Park and Forster Park.

The town also has one bocce ball court at Glenashton Park, located at 1051 Glenashton Dr. which is free to use. The court is fenced to keep wildlife out of the sand.

There are also two volleyball courts located at Coronation Park, 1426 Lakeshore Rd. West.

The Town of Oakville is reminding residents to be courteous during their play and to follow rules on all tennis and pickleball courts.
