Legendary glam rockers KISS will have some local company on their farewell tour with Oshawa’s own Crown Lands joining the band for the nine Canadian dates that starts in Vancouver November 8 and ends at Toronto’s Scotiabank Centre November 22.

KISS has been around for 50 years, with their iconic face paint and outlandish stage outfits being part of the act for most of the band’s career. This fall’s Countdown: The Final 50 Shows kicks off in Sydney, Australia October 7 and will end December 2 with the usual fire-breathing, blood-spitting, smoking guitars, shooting rockets, levitating drum kits and pyrotechnics at New York’s Madison Square Garden.

In in the middle is Canadian shows in Vancouver, Edmonton, Saskatoon, Winnipeg, Montreal, Quebec City, Ottawa and Toronto, with Juno-winning prog rockers Crown Lands stepping in as the support act.

“Stoked to be supporting the legendary KISS on their final Canadian run,” enthused the band on social media. “Let’s rock n roll all nite!”

Kiss was founded by Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons in 1973 and has undergone some personnel changes over the years, with original members Peter Criss and Ace Frehley leaving the band in 1980 and 1982, respectively. The current lineup includes Tommy Thayer (guitar) and Eric Singer (drums), along with mainstays Stanley (guitar) and Simmons (bass).

Crown Lands is a two-piece Rush-inspired band formed in 2015 with Kevin Comeau and Cody Bowles with two full length albums and several EPs under their belt and a history of writing songs about Indigenous issues, such as End of the Road, the story of missing Indigenous woman on the Highway of Tears in B.C., and White Buffalo from their 2023 release, Fearless.

The Progarchy website named Fearless its prog album of the year, with reviewer ‘Time Lord’ calling it a “masterpiece.”
