Oshawa Generals’ Oster named OHL Goaltender of the Month

Oshawa Generals’ netminder Jacob Oster, who is enjoying an all-star calibre season with the red-hot Gens, has been named OHL’s Goaltender of the Month.
Oster is undefeated this month (the club finished the regular season on a 12-0 tear), with the Ottawa native going 9-0 with a 2.33 GAA, a .914 save percentage and 223 saves, earning him two OHL Save of the Nights along the way.
The Generals have had a stellar month and head into the playoffs as the #1 seed in the Eastern Conference and Oster has been one of the team’s strongest assets in their success this year – especially this month.
Oster stood on his head this month and pushed his team to victories against the league’s best clubs in Sault Ste. Marie, Brantford, Kitchener and Sudbury and helped Oshawa clinch the conference with a 2-1, 28-save overtime performance in Mississauga March 12.
He continued his consistency in the crease with a second 28-save performance March 17 in a 7-2 win over the Sarnia Sting and closed out the regular season turning aside 26 of 27 shots against Sudbury March 24.
The 20-year-old led the league in wins with 35, tied for first (with London’s Michael Simpson) in save percentage at .905, finished second in GAA with a 2.81 mark and was just one shutout off the league lead with three.

Selected in the fifth round (92 overall) by the Guelph Storm in the 2020 OHL draft, the 6-foot-3, 190 lb. netminder has appeared in 143 career regular season contests between Oshawa and Guelph, recording a 68-47-12-4 record, 3.29 goals-against average and .891 save percentage over three seasons.
Oshawa opens the playoffs Friday night in Oshawa against the 8th-ranked Barrie Colts.
