Oshawa Generals hosting third annual Pride Night February 24

The Oshawa Generals’ third annual Pride Night happens February 24 against the Peterborough Petes.
The club began celebrating “those in our communities and sport who were forgotten about and ignored for so long” in 2020. The Generals elevated efforts to make the LGBTQIA+ community feel more included at home games through the introduction of special Pride Night logo, helmet decals, and an Oshawa Generals Pride t-shirt, leading to more than $2,000 donated to PFLAG Durham.
The players will take Pride Night to new levels this year with specially-designed jerseys which will be worn though all 60 minutes for the first time, with the game-worn jerseys auctioned off after the game. All proceeds will go towards PFLAG Durham, an organization made up of parents and friends of the LGBTQIA+ community.
Pride Night 2023, with “top-down” support from the entire organization, will provide an opportunity for all of GensNation to “expand their knowledge” on Pride in the community through special concourse booths around the Tribute Communities Centre. Fans can also celebrate their Pride through a number of other initiatives as well.

Pride t-shirts are available in the Oshawa Generals store right now. The shirts, priced at just $20, feature an Oshawa Generals helmet, alongside the other helmets coloured to match that of the pride flag. As with the other initiatives, all proceeds from shirt sales will go to PFLAG Durham.
The Generals are in Peterborough tonight to take on the Petes and in Kingston Friday before returning home for a crucual match against the Sudbury Wolves Sunday night at the Tribute Centre. Oshawa trails the Wolves by one point for the final playof spot in the Eastern Conference.
