Looking to tie the knot in Brampton? Applying for a marriage licence just got easier now that the City is accepting online applications.

You can now apply for a marriage licence online through the City of Brampton’s new marriage licence application portal or submit an application in-person at Brampton City Hall.

Online applicants will receive a reference number which is required to pick up the marriage licence at City Hall.

The City holds civil marriage ceremonies at Brampton City Hall every Tuesday through Friday during business hours. Last year there were some 1,300 civil ceremonies were conducted at City Hall and staff conducted over 3,000 ceremonies since 2016.

Marriage licences are valid anywhere in Ontario for three months from the date of issue and are available from most municipalities in the province.
Those getting married in Ontario must obtain a marriage licence before doing so, and a licence cannot be issued after a ceremony has taken place.

The addition of online applications comes just weeks after the Province announced it is rolling out more ServiceOntario online options and virtual appointments in Mississauga, Brampton, Hamilton, and across the province to help cut down on wait times and improve accessibility.
