Four people found dead in home in Souther Ontario

UPDATE: OPP has reopened all the lanes on Highway 401 and Guelph Line.

One person is dead, and another is in hospital fighting for their life after an overnight crash involving a vehicle travelling the wrong way on Highway 401 in Milton.

At approximately 3:30 a.m., the OPP responded to a fatal collision in the eastbound lanes of  Highway 401 and Guelph Line.

One person was pronounced dead at the scene while another was taken to a Toronto-area hospital and is currently in life-threatening condition.

Police have refrained from disclosing specifics about the crash victims, including their identities, ages, and places of residence.

Officials say while preliminary investigations suggest a wrong-way vehicle may have been the cause, authorities are still on the scene probing the incident.

Motorists are urged to exercise patience as the roadways are currently closed.

The OPP has stated that they will issue an update to the public regarding the reopening of the roads.

In the span of a week, this marks the second tragic incident involving a vehicle travelling in the wrong direction on the highway, resulting in fatalities.

On April 29, a driver of a U-Haul truck connected to the robbery of an LCBO store attempted to evade Durham police and was spotted speeding in the opposite direction on Highway 401.

The collision resulted in the tragic deaths of three occupants in another vehicle—a grandmother, grandfather, and 3-month-old infant—while the parents were rushed to the hospital. The driver of the U-Haul also died at the scene.
