Oakville Museum has unveiled a new display in celebration of Black History Month.

Over the month of February, residents will have the opportunity to explore the town’s early Black History with a graphic display at Oakville Museum’s front windows and grounds.

The display, adapted from the museum’s permanent exhibit, Freedom, Opportunity and Family: Oakville’s Black History, tells the stories of many African-American families who settled in Oakville in the town’s early history.

Additionally, the display will complement virtual Black History Month activities offered in partnership with the Canadian Caribbean Association of Halton.

Activities include themed Oakville Museum Facebook Live broadcasts, streamed documentary videos and virtual Black History walking tours.
