While COVID-19 still looms, Oakville has taken a giant step over the last year to return to more regular activities.

That return to normalcy and business as usual is likely to be one of the key topics Oakville Mayor Rob Burton touches on when he delivers his annual Oakville Status Report on Tuesday, Sept. 20.

The mayor’s 16th State of the Town address will be delivered live at 6:30 p.m. from Council Chambers at Town Hall, located at 1225 Trafalgar Rd., and will be livestreamed on the Town’s Youtube channel.

In last year’s address, Burton touted on several civic accomplishments, including the ways Oakville’s economy avoided taking major hits from the COVID-19 pandemic and the $1.8-billion revamp of the Ford Motor Company of Canada’s Oakville Assembly Complex into a battery-electric vehicle manufacturing facility, starting in 2024.

He also boasted about the presence of biotech firms such as Green Sky Labs, Inc., prove of a forward-thinking perspective in the community.

Burton could also bring up the renovation of the Town Square and downtown Oakville after addressing it in the closing of last year’s 26-minute address.
