Brock University issued a shelter-in-place advisory in response to an incident on campus that prompted the intervention of Niagara Regional Police.

On Saturday (Oct. 28) around 6 p.m., Brock University sent out a notification of a lockdown in progress, requiring immediate action from individuals on campus.

The statement said the situation was of moderate severity and instructed those on-site to find a place and close and secure doors.

As part of this precautionary measure, it was advised to turn off lights and silence cellphones.

To stay informed and receive real-time updates, individuals were urged to consistently monitor official Brock University communication channels.

As a safety precaution, individuals were asked to refrain from opening doors for anyone during lockdown as security and police personnel would have the necessary keys to unlock doors and clear rooms as needed.

Twenty-three minutes into the lockdown, Brock University said that Niagara Police were continuing investigation off campus.

By 6:30 p.m., the shelter-in-place advisory was lifted and those on campus were advised by the university to continue with their regular activities.
