With the American flag clearly visible across the river, residents in Niagara-on-the-Lake have often wondered why  Queen’s Royal Park on the waterfront never had a Canadian flag.

That will change this Friday (August 5) when the installation of a flagpole and the rising of the first-ever flag in the park.

The tiny tourist town will be holding a public flag raising at 3:30 pm on Friday.

Queen’s Royal Park is also home to Niagara-on-the-Lake’s waterfront gazebo and is jammed packed with tourists and visitors on every warm summer day.

The cost of the flagpole installation was covered by a donation from Niagara-on-the-Lake’s Caldwell Foundation.
