Niagara Falls pair charged in firearms investigation

A man and woman from Niagara Falls are facing numerous firearm and drug charges after a lengthy investigation by Niagara Regional Police.

The firearms investigation, started by the street crime unit in the early months of this year, would lead detectives to an apartment on Harriman St. in Niagara Falls where police say the suspects were identified.

On Tuesday (May 7) police conducted a search warrant at the Harriman St. address and would seize 24.7 grams of suspected fentanyl, $350 worth of Canadian currency, three replica firearms and brass knuckles.

James McGowan, 40, of Niagara Falls was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking (fentanyl)
  • Possession of proceeds of crime under $500
  • Possession of a prohibited weapon (brass knuckles)
  • Failing to comply with release order
  • Two counts of failing to comply with probation order
  • Failing to comply with weapons prohibition order

Megan Rousy, 39, of Niagara Falls, was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking (fentanyl)
  • Possession of proceeds of crime under $500
  • Possession of a prohibited weapon (brass knuckles)
  • Failing to comply with release order
  • Failing to comply with weapons prohibition order

Both McGowan and Rousy were held in custody pending a bail hearing at the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse on Wednesday (May 8).
