Niagara Falls man and great-grandmother both cash in with lottery wins

Safia Durrani scored a $50,000 top prize with INSTANT CROSSWORD.

A Niagara Falls man is $100,000 richer while a Niagara Falls woman now has an extra $50,000 in her nest-egg.

Avi Patel collected $100,000 after winning the top prize with INSTANT MONEY MATCH.

He bought his winning ticket was purchased at Jolly’s Variety & Grocery Store on Barker Street in Niagara Falls.

Meanwhile, across town, Safia Durrani scored a $50,000 top prize with INSTANT CROSSWORD.

Durrani says this is her first big win and “CROSSWORD is my favourite” when she travelled to the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up her winnings.

The great grandmother says she thought she won $25,000 at first and she woke up her husband to share the news. “I went to the store to check it, and that’s when I noticed I actually won $50,000. I started dancing in the store I was so excited!”

“It’s my 50th anniversary with my husband and I won $50,000 – this is so meaningful,” she smiled. “We will be investing this money.”

Her winning ticket was purchased at Pioneer on the Run in Drummond Road in Niagara Falls.
