No fireworks fines as complaints see massive drop on New Year’s Eve in Brampton

Brampton is ringing in 2026 with an evening of music and celebration, featuring hometown Juno and Grammy Award winner Alessia Cara.

Cara, whose debut studio album Know-It-All peaked at No. 9 on the Billboard 200, will headline Brampton’s New Year’s Eve celebrations, which will also feature a massive fireworks show and DJ performances.

The party starts in Garden Square at 7:30 p.m., when food vendors and a heated seating area will open on Main Street North along with a set from DJ Cherileigh Co.

Brampton folk artist Leah Holtom will hit the stage at 8:35 p.m., followed by local singer/songwriter Divine Lightbody, and Portuguese-Canadian singer Sofia Camara, whose single “Girls Like You” reached number 9 on the Billboard Canada Top 40.

Cara is set to take the stage at 10:50 p.m., followed by her induction into Brampton’s Arts Walk of Fame live after the show.

The evening will close with a city-run fireworks display at midnight.

The city says it plans to strictly enforce its ban on fireworks as 2025 transitions into 2026, with fines reaching as high as $100,000 for those who ignore the rules.

Brampton Transit will be free for all riders after 7 p.m. on New Year’s Eve, with extended service throughout the night to help residents and visitors travel safely.

There will also be free parking at city garages, including the John Street Parking Garage and City Hall Parking Garage.
