It was all a dream fueled by passion for local entrepreneurs and business partners Adam Ifill and Adam Moore to open up a restaurant that honours their West Indian heritage.

This recently became their reality in Streetsville with the opening of Roti Vybz – the first and only West Indian spot located in a nondescript area of the city which makes this a unique and interesting take out location.

The location is so obscure that the success of it would have to rely on the food itself and there’s no doubt that the word of its existence will travel fast because they serve some kick-ass oxtail (as seen in the photo above) and especially because the food is made with soul by their executive chef who is a seasoned veteran, known as Chef Mikey.

Unique for: The first and only West Indian joint in Streetsville that serves high quality West Indian cuisine using local ingredients. The oxtail and goat are Canadian raised and their (Halal) chicken comes from Sargent Farms, a local family owned business. Roti Vybz also delivers and you can conveniently place your orders for delivery using their online portal.

Why Mississauga? “Mississauga is full of opportunities!”

What was in the space before you took it over? A portion of an existing sports bar called Champions Offside Sports Bar. Roti Vybz is literally a carved out hole in the wall at the back of the bar in the very back of a strip plaza just off of Queen St. N.

Most Popular Dishes: Curry chicken and jerk chicken which is made with gravy, making it moist and tender.

Signature Drinks: Coming soon will be their house-made, freshly squeezed mango juice, sour sop, Irish moss, carrot juice, magnum, and lemonade.

Menu: The menu includes everything from jerk chicken (bone-in and boneless) to curry goat, king fish and red snapper, ackee and saltfish, a variety of roti’s including curry shrimp, oxtail, potato and channa, and vegetable curry. There are also wings, festivals, and fried plantain on the menu.

What’s Up and Coming? The grand opening date is on May 22nd when they will launch “Fish Fry Friday’s” to pay homage to an annual festival that happens in their home town. You can expect to see 15 to 20 different types of fish every Friday, with live bands and DJ’s from G98.7FM.

Seats: Takeout only

Patio and Seats: Patio is currently under construction

Licensed: No

Other Locations: Their second and full-service location is expected to be completed in the next 3 months in a plaza at Eglinton Ave. and McLaughlin Rd.
