Construction is expected to begin this spring on a new Costco location in Oakville, but shoppers shouldn’t expect to step into the wholesale warehouse anytime soon.
An update posted on social media channels by Oakville Mayor Rob Burton suggests that work on the building and changes at the site could take more than a year to complete.
It will be located on Wyecroft Road near Burloak Drive and the QEW.
“Final site plan approval has been granted for the new Costco location in Oakville,” writes Burton. “With demolition underway and permits in review, construction is expected to begin this spring, pointing to a likely fall 2027 opening.”
The mayor goes on to say that approvals have also been given for traffic signals in the area. As well, additional infrastructure improvements are underway.
The new location will feature more than 1,000 parking spaces that will include both surface and underground parking. Shoppers will be able to park in one of the 637 standard surface parking spots or the 306 underground parking spaces.
There will also be 16 surface parking spaces for the disabled and another six underground spaces. Cyclists will also be able to park their bikes in one of the 16 spaces that will be made available.
A gas bar is also slated for the site at the northwest corner near the South Service Road West and RioCan Boulevard intersection.
