New library branch opens with books, activity kits, video games and more available in Brampton

There’s a new place to read, study, and try new activities in Brampton now that the new Claireville library branch is officially open.

The new, 11,500 square-foot Brampton Library Branch in the west end of the city offers space for both quiet study and active discovery with residents able to check out up to 50 books at a time.

There’s also a collection of other borrowable items, including board games and video games, telescope and bird watching activity kits, and a new interactive Touch2Play Max installation with games for all ages.

Now with nine branches across the city, the Brampton Library says the Claireville location is “a destination for everyone to browse, borrow, pick up holds and return items, enjoy free services, including WiFi, and participate in programs.”

This new branch is open at 8750 The Gore Road on Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Friday through Sunday from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. except for holiday closures.

And there’s another new branch on the way as city has earmarked some $9.8 million over the next five years for the new Howden Recreation Centre, which will be a 45,000 to 50,000 square-foot facility with a multipurpose gymnasium, fitness and studio space, outdoor courts and play areas, a dedicated daycare centre space and a new Brampton Library.
