Construction has begun on a new GO station in southern Ontario.
The provincial government announced on Tuesday that it has broken ground on the Grimsby GO Station.
“Grimsby GO is a game-changer for Niagara,” said Transportation Minister Prabmeet Sarkaria.
“It will get people where they’re going faster and safely, support good-paying jobs during construction and unlock increased service on the Lakeshore West line.”

The station will have one platform, a bus loop, pick-up / drop-off areas, and 220 parking spots.
The province said it’s using a new “standardized design” for the station to help speed up timelines and reduce construction costs.
Sarkaria said that trains will begin operating at the station by next summer.

The new station on the Lakeshore West line will help fight gridlock, shorten commutes and support more GO service to the Niagara Region.
