New discount grocery store opens in Ontario town

A new discount grocery store has opened its doors in an Ontario town.

Food Basics opened its 155th Ontario location in Parry Sound last week, said a news release from Metro, which owns Food Basics.

It’s more than 32,000 square feet and is located at 1 Pine Drive.

“We are excited to be able to bring Food Basics to the community of Parry Sound, offering more ways for residents to save on quality products,” said Food Basics vice president of operations John Manax.

The store “offers a tailored product selection to reflect the flavours of the Georgian Bay area and southeastern Ontario,” the release said.

The new store is the fourth of eight to open this year, Metro said.

It has led to the creation of 90 jobs.

It’s open daily from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
