Drivers planning to be on the road on Sunday (June 4) should keep some upcoming road closures in mind.

The annual Sikh Martyrdom Parade is happening in Brampton on Sunday morning and into the afternoon.

During the parade, the following roads will be closed:

  • Dixie Road from Sandalwood Pkwy to Bovaird Drive: 11:45 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Airport Road from Countryside Drive to Bovaird Drive: 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The Sikh Martyrdom Parade, also called Nagar Kirtan, is a religious tradition that has been regularly practiced by Brampton’s Sikh community. The word “Nagar” means “town or neighbourhood,” while “Kirtan” is a term describing the singing of hymns.

Drivers should avoid the mentioned roads and plan alternate routes during the parade.
