Mississauga’s marathon is back this weekend and multiple road closures are planned for the event.

The 2024 Beneva Mississauga Marathon race is on April 28.

This year the full marathon returns with the 42.2-kilometre route starting from Celebration Square in the downtown core and winding through city streets to the finish line at Lakefront Promenade Park, beside the Mississauga Sailing Club.

The race starts at 7:30 a.m. and the time limit for the course is 6.5 hours.

There is also a half marathon at 21.1 kilometres plus 10- and five-kilometre races.

To accommodate the runners, road closures are in effect on Sunday, April 28.

Here are the planned road closures:

  • 6:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.  Burnhamthorpe Road — all westbound lanes are closed between Hurontario Street and Erin Mills Parkway
  • Northbound and southbound traffic will not be permitted to cross Burnhamthorpe between Hurontario and Erin Mills Parkway. Hurontario and Erin Mills Parkway will be the best options for north/south travel.
  • Eastbound lanes on Burnhamthorpe will remain open between Promontory Crescent and Hurontario.
  • The intersection of Burnhamthorpe and Mississauga Road will be closed in all directions.
  • 6:30 a.m. to 10 a.m., Mississauga Road will be closed from Dundas Street to Burnhamthorpe.
  • St. Peters Church driveway will remain open but drivers must approach from the east on Dundas. The intersections of Dundas at Erin Mills Parkway and Dundas at Mississauga Road will be closed.
  • Mississauga Road will be closed to all northbound traffic between Dundas and Lakeshore Road.
  • Indian Road, Clarkson Road, Orr Road and Meadow Wood Road will remain open with a designated coned runners lane.
