A Filipino and Asian-inspired restaurant serving “Toronto’s favourite bao” is opening a new location at a Mississauga food court.
First opening as a pop-up in Scarborough in 2020, Bao Mama has grown to be a popular spot with a flagship restaurant in Oshawa and an ongoing summer pop-up at the Toronto harbourfront.
But Bao Mama is bringing a permanent location to Square One mall in Mississauga with an opening date planned for fall of this year. The restaurant also ran a pop-up Bao in Square One’s Food District for one week only back in 2023.
“Get ready, Mississauga — the crispiest, softest, most flavour-packed baos are coming your way,” Bao Mama says of the upcoming Mississauga opening.
Bao is traditionally a warm, fluffy steamed bun stuffed with meat or veggies.
Bao Mama makes their buns from scratch and packs them with Filipino and Asian-inspired textures and flavours, and slathers them with house-made sauces.

Serving Asian-inspired dishes , Bao Mama’s baos feature specialty sauces and fillings like crispy chicken and braised beef brisket, and vegetarian options like the “Me-So-Veg” Tofu & Mushroom bao.
There’s also the “Hip-Hip-On” Crispy Shrimp bao, the “PNoy Boy” BBQ Pork bao, and the “PNoy Chick” Chicken Adobo bao.
No exact opening date has been shared by Bao Mama, but you can get updates by following INsauga.com or Bao Mama on socail media.
