Police charged a motorcyclist with stunt driving through a school zone on the first day of school in Oakville.

The motorcyclist was clocked going 90 km/hr in a 40 km/hr school zone on Tuesday, Sept. 6, Halton Regional Police Service said in a tweet.

The officers were out checking school zones as part of Project Safe Start.

The motorcycle rider was stopped, charged for stunt driving/speeding and had their bike impounded and licence suspended roadside, police said.

This is the second speeder police have said they caught speeding in a school zone on the first day of school. A driver was caught going 102 km/h in a posted 60 km/h zone on Upper Middle Rd.

“A reminder that Project Safe Start is in full effect this week with an emphasis on zero tolerance enforcement for the fatal four offences,” Halton police said this week in a tweet.

“Kids are heading back to school today; if you are driving, do so safely and follow the rules of the road.”
