A proposal for four new highrise towers and two mid-size buildings could bring more than 1,600 residential units to Brampton.

Investment company Soneil Markham is looking to build four mixed-use towers at 2 Country Court Blvd., not far from the Brampton courthouse, as well as a pair of five-storey residential mid-rise buildings on the northwest corner of Turtlecreek Blvd.

The towers would range between 23 to 45 storeys and run along Hurontario St. and, if approved, the development could bring 1,610 new residential units to Brampton along with over 90,000 square feet of office ground floor commercial space.

The development application is still in the review process and a proposal to amend the zoning bylaw to make way for the project is going to the City’s Planning and Development Committee on Monday.

The proposal includes plans for 856 one-bedroom units, 647 two-bedroom suites and 92 three-bedroom units. The property is currently designated under “Office” use within the City of Brampton which allows for offices, hotels and motels, and other commercial uses.

The City is also considering an application for a quintet of new condo and apartment towers not far from the proposed Soneil development. That development could see five highrise towers built at 200 Country Court Blvd. at 44, 38, 34, 28 and 22 storeys tall and could bring some 1,900 new resident units to the city.
