An Etobicoke man is the latest to face charges in the kidnapping of Elnaz Hajtamiri as police across the country are searching for a Mississauga man who allegedly attacked the missing woman weeks before her abduction.

Hajtamiri was abducted by three people dressed in police gear from a relative’s house on Trailwood Place in Wasaga Beach on Jan. 12, 2022, according to the OPP.

Witnesses told police that the suspects then left with Hajtamiri in what is believed to be a white Lexus RX sport utility vehicle.

Since her abduction, police have made multiple arrests including 30-year-old Krystal P. Lawrence of Brampton who was charged last month with kidnapping.

The OPP now says Dominique Ewan, 35, of Etobicoke was arrested on Monday and charged with:

  • Kidnapping
  • Fraud Over $5000
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000

Police have also charged Hajtamiri’s ex-boyfriend Mohamad Lilowith with kidnapping in the Jan. 12 incident, and he has also been charged with attempted murder and attempted kidnapping in relation to an earlier attack on Hajtamiri in December 2022.

Less than a month before her abduction, police say Hajtamiri was attacked in an underground garage near Yonge St. and Bantry Ave. Hajtamiri was struck in the head with a frying pan and required some 40 stitches after the incident, police said.

Hajtamiri’s kidnapping has sparked a Canada-wide search for several suspects and a $100,000 reward from the OPP and York Regional Police for anyone with information that will lead to her being found.

Sukhpreet Singh, 23, of Mississauga, and Jaspreet Singh, 24, of Delta, British Columbia, are wanted on Canada-wide warrants for aggravated assault and conspiracy to commit an indictable offence in connection with the attack on Hajtamiri.

Police also have an arrest warrant for Deshawn Davis, 35, of Toronto in connection with the case. Also, the OPP continues to look for another man in the previously published photos. Police believe this man lives in the Greater Toronto Area.

A police photo below shows Deshawn Davis, left, and the unidentified suspect on the right.

Police are still looking to identify one, or potentially two, individuals of interest who rented vehicles in December 2021. They are not suspects in the kidnapping, but police would like to speak with them as they may have information related to this case.

Anyone with information about these individuals’ whereabouts is asked to contact the OPP immediately at 1-888-310-1122 or through the dedicated tip line at 1-833-728-3415.
