Mississauga shopping mall hosts Saturday night at the drive-in

Dixie Outlet Mall is inviting Mississauga residents, and those beyond, to the drive-in.
The Lakeview mall, the first in the area when it opened in 1956 as Dixie Plaza, is hosting two Saturday nights at the drive-in, with animated hit Ice Age kicking things off this Saturday (Aug. 14). That presentation will be followed by Paddington on Sept. 4.
Mall officials say all proceeds from the drive-ins will go to Mississauga charities.

The mall, which changed its name to Dixie Outlet Mall in the late 1980s, is in the midst of sweeping design changes aimed at “bringing to life a new vision” for the mall and surrounding area, mall owners say.
The Plan Dixie initiative includes a mix of uses, including enhanced green space, improved access for cycling and walking, new shops and restaurants and housing options. Plans are still in the design phase.
