Mississauga is making it easier to report unwanted graffiti and promises a quick clean-up response.

By clicking on this link residents can immediately report instances of graffiti on City property such as buses, shelters, buildings, sidewalks, benches and playground equipment.

Under Mississauga’s anti-graffiti policy, an investigation will be launched within five days and the graffiti will be removed.

According to Mississauga policy, graffiti found on City property will be inspected by departmental staff who will take appropriate steps to have it removed.

“The City makes every effort to ensure that hate and/or offensive graffiti is removed within two business days of notification,” the policy reads. “Graffiti other than hate or offensive graffiti, such as gang symbols, tagging and murals, is removed within five business days of notification. Response times are subject to weather conditions and the requirements of police if a police investigation is being conducted.”

Mississauga will also go after those who are responsible for the graffiti on public property to recover the costs associated with cleaning.

As well, Mississauga has bylaws in place where owners of private property must remove graffiti if they are ordered to do so.

Along with filing graffiti reports online, Mississauga residents can also call 311 to register a complaint.
