A Mississauga man is facing charges in connection with an alleged sexual assault.

Halifax police recently announced that members of the force’s Sexual Assault Investigative Team have charged a 26-year-old Mississauga man in connection with a sexual assault that occurred in a Dartmouth, Nova Scotia hotel.

Police say that on June 5 at approximately 9:30 p.m., the suspect–a guest at the hotel–requested that an item be delivered to his room. According to police, a male employee in his 20s delivered the item and the guest asked him to place it in the room. When the employee went to leave, the suspect allegedly touched him in a sexual manner over his clothing.

The employee reported the incident to staff and the police were called.

A Halifax District RCMP officer arrested the accused at 1:00 p.m. in the hotel without incident.

Police say he was transported to Halifax Regional Police Headquarters and has been charged with one count of sexual assault and has since been released.

He is scheduled to appear in court on July 18.
