Mississauga Couple Devastated After Well-Known Tuxedo Company Abruptly Shuts Down
With her wedding a little over a month away, Mississauga bride Trisha Ryan was hoping (as all brides do) for everything to go as planned.
Unfortunately, she was devastated to discover that the brand that was supposed to supply her fiance and wedding party with multiple tuxedos abruptly shut down.
"Last night, my future sister-in-law sent me a link to a wedding group on Facebook that said that Tuxedo Royale was closed indefinitely," Ryan said.
"I called every location in the GTA and Toronto this morning and no one was answering. I finally went on their Instagram page and called that number and found out that they're financially restructuring. There are no refunds, nothing is being returned to anyone."

Insauga.com called Tuxedo Royale's head office in Richmond Hill and heard the same voicemail message.
According to a recording on the brand's answering machine, Tuxedo Royale has suspended all operations indefinitely due to financial restructuring. The message says it is not known when the restructuring will be complete and when stores will reopen.
The message also said that refunds will not be given to customers who have put down full payments or deposits.
The company is suggesting that customers take their business to Moores, Freeman's Formal Wear, Andrew's Formal Wear and 4 Men United in the meantime.
"We sincerely apologize for this disruption and inconvenience that this news has caused," the message says.
According to Tuxedo Royale's website, the brand used to operate locations in Markham, Richmond Hill, Toronto, Mississauga, Brampton, Pickering, Newmarket, and Hamilton.
For Ryan, who is getting married in Mississauga on Oct. 18, the situation is a nightmare.
"Some brides are getting married this weekend," she says. "Our best man flew here from Alberta back in February to get fitted. There's no way he can get fitted again, he's not coming back until the wedding," she says.
"It's a nightmare, you expect service providers to do what they're supposed to do. We put deposits on the tuxes back in February. We can't even contact the credit card company to get the money back for them.”
Ryan says she's on a budget and cannot afford to compensate her wedding party for the cost of the rentals.
"We have five groomsmen, the groom, two junior groomsmen and father of the groom. Nine tuxes in total," she says.
"I’m really stressed out. I've been on the verge of tears all morning. It doesn’t seem fair to be able to do this to people."
Ryan says she's not sure what to do yet and doesn't know if she and her fiance can ask their groomsmen to spend additional funds on new rentals.
"It's the worst."
Ryan is hoping that Tuxedo Royale will decide to issue refunds in the future.
"I hope that they can refund us. I'm sure there are many other brides and grooms on a tight budget. How can we ask our groomsman to pay another $200? We don't have money to cover this ourselves."
Ryan says she's trying to see what her options are going forward but is still reeling from the news.
"You hear horror stories, but you never think it's going to happen to you."
