New arrivals in Mississauga have another option to upgrade credentials and skills for the Canadian job market, since Mohawk College has opened a campus in the city.

Based primarily in Hamilton, Mohawk has collaborated with triOS College to deliver “future ready” programs at the Mississauga campus. Program offerings, as of January, include global business management; business (general); office administration (health services); computer systems technician; supply chain management, and international business management. Programs range from one to two years in length.

“This opportunity provides international students with a flexible option to learn, work and live in one of Canada’s most globally connected and culturally diverse cities,” says a statement posted at mohawkcollege.ca.

Mohawk College is based in Hamilton, where it has three campus spread across the city. It has been recognized as one of Canada’s greenest employers, and has also worked to create avenues for a broader range of students, including Indigenous students, to study abroad in nations such as Italy and New Zealand.

Mississauga has two other prominent post-secondary institutions. There is the University of Toronto Mississauga (UTM), located in the Credit Valley, which is a part of the University of Toronto. Around 16,000 students, over 90 per cent of whom are undergraduates, attend UTM.

Sheridan College also boasts its 10-year-old Hazel McCallion Campus located near the Square One Shopping Centre. It includes Sheridan’s Pilon School of Business, as well as architectural programs that are focused on sustainably built environments.
