Putting you garbage out in Mississauga and Brampton has gotten a little more restrictive.

After months of allowing residents to put out an extra two bags of garbage every two weeks, that allowance has now ended and you will have to start paying again to get rid of extra trash.

Residents can use either the old garbage tags (orange) or the new garbage tags (yellow) until further notice.

As a reminder:

  • Garbage tags cost $3 each. Minimum purchase of 5 tags (or one sheet)
  • Single tags are not sold
  • Tags will arrive by mail, but delivery may take longer due to the COVID-19 pandemic
  • Put excess garbage out only on your garbage collection day
  • Garbage tags must be used to dispose of excess garbage bags

Residents in Peel are advised that the additional 2-bag limit for excess garbage has ended and garbage tags are required to dispose of excess garbage.

Garbage tags are available online and residents can visit the Region of Peel website to order their garbage tags.  Residents can also order garbage tags by phone by calling 905-791-9499.

Residents can also take their excess garbage to any Peel Community Recycling Centre (CRC) for drop-off. Disposal fees apply.  CRCs only accept credit or debit cards. No cash accepted.
