Hamilton man dies from injuries sustained at local steel company
The ministry of labour is investigating a death in Hamilton on Tuesday. Emergency crews were called to Janco Steel after reports of a workplace injury.

Ontario’s Ministry of Labour is investigating after a man died in Hamilton on Tuesday (Apr. 26).

Emergency crews were called to Janco Steel in lower Stoney Creek shortly after 10:30 a.m. after reports of a workplace injury.

The Hamilton Police Service said the man “was struck by an industrial forklift motor vehicle within the plant.”

West Lincoln Hospital in critical condition but the male succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival. Due to Ministry of Transportation guidelines, this will be deemed a motor vehicle collision and is the city’s 10th traffic fatality of the year and the ninth involving a pedestrian.

Hamilton Police Service Division 2 criminal investigation branch and the collision reconstruction unit are assisting the Ministry of Labour investigation.
