Milton Transit buses will pause 96 seconds on day of Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral

Milton Transit buses will be taking a short pause to honour the passing of Queen Elizabeth II on Monday (Sept. 19).

In recognition of the National Day of Mourning and to pay tribute to Queen Elizabeth II, Milton Transit buses will pause all service for 96 seconds at 1 p.m.

“Bus operators will stop their vehicles at a regular service stops prior to 1 p.m. and remain there until the moment of silence has concluded,” said Milton Transit.

This pause coincides with the Provincial moment of silence following Her Late Majesty’s State Funeral on Monday, the last day of the official period of mourning in Canada.

Britain’s longest-reigning monarch, with 70 years on the throne, Queen Elizabeth II died at the age of 96 at Balmoral Castle on Sept. 18.

The funeral will take place at Westminister Abbey in London, England.

Milton Transit will operate regular Monday service for the remainder of the day.
