The Milton Public Library (MPL) will be hosting a workshop this month that will enable residents to learn how to write poetry in any language.

The workshop will take place on Monday, Apr. 25 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. via Zoom.

It will feature a discussion on the ways in which writing poetry in English may be a barrier to some poets.

“We may be discussing racism, xenophobia, stereotypes and expressing our emotions through poetry. The objective of this workshop is to create an open and safe space for self-expression through poetic form,” reads MPL’s website.

No prior knowledge of poetry is required and attendees will learn to write poetry in whichever language they prefer.

Those who are interested in attending are being asked to pick up their workshop kit from the Main Library branch between Apr. 22 and 25.
