Milton’s Brian James thought his eyes were deceiving him at first.

What eventually came into focus for the 67-year-old retired warehouse worker was the fact he was holding a winning Lotto Max ticket worth $500,000.

“I was looking at it, wondering if what I was seeing was right,” James recalled of checking his ticket at the Circle K on Steeles Avenue in Milton. “I counted all the zeroes and realized I won $500,000!”

James, who says this is his first major lotto win after playing for decades, went home right away to tell his wife about his big lotto win.

It also took her a bit before the big win came into focus.

“She looked at it about five times before realizing what it was,” he laughed. “Then we called our family to share the good news!”

James already knows what he’s going to do with his winnings, and that includes sharing some of his $500,000 lotto prize with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

“I will also pay some bills, take a trip to Hawaii and get a new puppy,” he said, sporting a big smile.
