Mild sunny days with 9 C nights creeping into southern Ontario this week

The first week of September is set to deliver a mix of sunshine and rain in southern Ontario, starting warm and bright before cooler air and unsettled weather arrive by the end of the week.


Monday will begin sunny once morning fog patches lift. Temperatures will climb to 24 C, feeling like 26 with the humidex. The UV index is forecast at a high 6, and Environment Canada advises sunscreen, hats and protective clothing for anyone spending time outdoors. The evening will remain clear with fog patches developing overnight as the low dips to 12 C.

Tuesday will stay sunny with daytime highs reaching 25 C. The night will remain calm and clear with temperatures holding at a cool 12 C.

Another bright day is expected Wednesday with highs near 25 C under clear skies. Conditions will stay clear into the night as temperatures fall to 15 C.

Thursday brings a change with cloudy skies and a 60 per cent chance of rain. The high is expected to reach 21 C before slipping to a chilly 9 C overnight, with a 40 per cent chance of lingering showers.

Friday will be noticeably cooler with a mix of sun and clouds and a 40 per cent chance of rain. Daytime highs will reach 17 C. Cloudy periods are expected to continue into the night with a 30 per cent chance of showers and a low of 11 C.

The week closes on Saturday with a mix of sun and clouds and a 30 per cent chance of rain. The high will rise to 19 C for most of the day before dropping to 11 C by the evening.
