Meatball-flavoured lollipops arrive in IKEA Canada stores for a limited time this weekend.
The odd combination of sweet and savoury first came as an April Fool’s Day joke. But IKEA partnered with Chupa Chups and announced that they would turn the joke into reality.
Now, the weird treats are arriving in Canada from June 13–14.
IKEA Canada will distribute approximately 40,000 limited-edition lollipops across its stores nationwide, IKEA said in a press release today.
“They’re real. They’re strange,” IKEA said on its website. “They’re fun and quirky. Ever taste a meatball and gravy and lingonberry flavour lollipop?”
Available while supplies last, customers will have a chance to get a lollipop through an in-store game, IKEA said. They will be available for tasting only and will not be sold, IKEA said.
IKEA Family members (loyalty reward members) can spin the wheel for a chance to taste the meatball-flavoured lollipop and win prizes such as gift cards on June 13 and 14, the store said.

“Our goal is always to create meaningful and memorable experiences for our customers,” said Rob Kelly, chief commercial officer, IKEA Canada. “This playful take on our iconic meatball reflects our commitment to bringing a taste of Sweden to Canadians in fun and unexpected ways. We’re excited to welcome customers into our stores to enjoy this unique experience together.”
There will also be a $1 breakfast offer (June 13 only) for IKEA Family members.
