Mayors of Halton Hills, Aurora make friendly wager over playoff hockey series

The stakes have been raised, a little bit, anyways, on the Georgetown Raiders playoff series with the Aurora Tigers.
Just prior to Game 1 of the first-round Ontario Junior Hockey League playoffs, Halton Hills Mayor Ann Lawlor responded to a Tweet from Aurora Mayor Tom Mrakas, laying down the gauntlet.
Hey Tom, your team is playing the Georgetown Raiders- a force to be reckoned with!! I gotta say, I’m watching this playoff series with great interest. And I just happen to have a Raiders shirt you could wear when we prevail! @OJHLRaiders #GeorgetownRaiders

Challenges like this are common for mayors of teams that are playing each other and Mrakas wasted little time accepting.
Ann it’s a deal… I have a Tigers jersey for Aurora wins for you to wear 😉 https://t.co/1ySSJhuDkn

So far, it looks like Lawlor will avoid having to wear a Tigers jersey as the Raiders have jumped out to a 2-0 lead, winning weekend games 4-3 and 2-1.
The heavily-favoured Raiders finished second in the OJHL North/West conference with 83 points in 54 games, trailing only Collingwood. Aurora finished seventh with 46 points.
The next game is Wednesday, Mar. 15, at 7:30 p.m. at Georgetown Mold Master Arena.
