If you have plans on parking anywhere in downtown St. Catharines this Saturday (Sept. 23), here’s a tip. Bring your car at roughly the same time the birds come up.

Numerous roads will be closed as early as 7 a.m. for the Niagara Grape & Wine Festival’s Grande Parade‘s route and staging areas.

While there is a full map below (top) detailing which roads, fully expect traffic to be slow-going on the handful of open roads due to volume.

The annual parade, which kicks off at 11 a.m., will draw hundreds of participants and thousands of spectators lining the sidewalks for portions of James St., Queen St., Ontario St., and St. Paul St. until the parade ends at 2 p.m.

Large portions of Lake St. and a large number of side streets off of it will also be shut down as staging areas for the marching bands, cheerleaders, floats, service organizations, and other groups participating.

However, below (bottom) is a map of the only route to the Farmer’s Market on Saturday during the day, and as expected, drivers will have to take a back-door route to get there.

Above are the street closures for the parade and staging areas. Bottom is the one safe route to the Farmer’s Market on King St. during the parade.
