An unidentified man is on the lam after robbing a Whitby pharmacy of a cellphone at knifepoint.

The man walked into the Shoppers Drug Mart on Garden St and Rossland Rd, just up the road from Durham Region Headquarters, around 8 p.m. May 30.

He snatched a cellphone off a display shelf and left the store. When confronted by an employee, the man brandished a knife and threatened the employee. He then fled the store on what police believe to be a dark mountain bike.

The employee was unharmed physically during the interaction.

Durham Police describe the suspect as a white man standing about 6 feet tall. He has a medium build and is between 22 and 25 years old. He was wearing a black hoodie and jeans.

Anyone with information about the robbery can call DRPS 1-888-579-1520 ext. 1825 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
