Man mistakenly released from Hamilton jail now in police custody

Police announced on Tuesday that the search for a fugitive who was released from the Hamilton Wentworth Detention Centre by mistake has ended.
They say Shawn Delaney has been located and is in police custody.
The Hamilton Police Service notified the public last Thursday that Delaney, 45, was improperly released from Barton Jail due to an administrative error two days prior.

Information regarding Delaney’s charges and sentencing were not provided; however, it was confirmed that he had not served his full sentence prior to being released.
Police said Delaney was “aware of the error and actively evading police.”
