Man killed after dump truck collides with motorized scooter near major Hamilton intersection

A Hamilton man is dead after he was struck by a dump truck while riding a motorized scooter.

The incident occurred Thursday (Oct. 28) at around 10:15 a.m. near the intersection of Barton and Wellington streets.

Police say the 65-year-old man was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the dump truck remained on the scene and is cooperating with the investigation, according to police.

Due to the ongoing investigation, motorists can expect closures and delays for “several hours,” tweeted Hamilton Police Service (HPS) at around 12:30 p.m.

Barton St. is closed between Ferguson St. and Victoria Ave. Wellington St. is closed between Birge and Cannon streets.
