Man facing sexual assault charges after allegedly posing as police officer in Pickering

A 36-year-old man is facing charges for sexual assault and impersonating an officer in Pickering.

On Tuesday, March 28, Durham Regional Police began investigating an incident in which a male suspect reportedly met a woman online and identified himself to her as a police officer.

“The victim attended the suspect’s home where he assaulted and sexually assaulted her,” said police.

“Through the investigation it was determined that he was in fact not a police officer.”

Following the investigation, 36-year-old Toronto man Ahmed Moustafa was arrested.

He is charged with assault, sexual assault, and two counts of impersonating a peace officer.

Police are seeking the public’s help to locate any other potential victims who may have been contacted by the accused.
