Man dead after single-vehicle crash on Whitby highway

One man died in a single-vehicle crash on the weekend in Whitby.

Emergency crews responded to the collision on Highway 401 and Highway 412 in Whitby shortly after 4 a.m. on Sunday, the Ontario Provincial Police said.

A passenger in the vehicle, a 24-year-old man, was transported to hospital where he was later pronounced dead, police said.

Police said the driver was also taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Highway 412 southbound was closed at Dundas Street West for the investigation.
