Man charged after Mississauga grocery stores and other businesses broken into

A man is facing numerous charges in connection with a series of break-ins at Mississauga businesses in March.

Officers with the Peel Regional Police 11 Division Break and Enter Unit arrested the man on Wednesday.

He’s charged in a string of robberies in which two grocery stores, a pharmacy and a car repair shop were among the targets.

In the most recent break-in, a pharmacy near Confederation Pkwy. and Square One Dr. in the City Centre was broken into on March 30, according to police.

Money and drugs were stolen in that incident.

On March 24, a grocery store in the area of Dundas St. W. and Winston Churchill Blvd. was targeted. An undisclosed amount of money was taken from a donation box.

On March 21, another grocery store was targeted, this one at Dundas St. E. and Universal Dr. Similarly, an undisclosed amount of cash was stolen from a large donation box.

On March 13, a car repair shop near Bloor St. and Tomken Rd. was broken into, but no money or property was stolen, police say.

David Fonseca, 48, of no fixed address, is charged with nine counts of break and enter, two counts possession of stolen property, flight from police and dangerous driving.

He was scheduled to appear in Brampton court today (April 21).
