Police have arrested the suspect who was wanted in connection to a homicide that took place at an apartment complex in Brampton last week.

On Wednesday (May 1), Police Regional Police responded to reports of an altercation between two men near Bovaird Drive and Creditview Road.

“During the incident, the victim was fatally stabbed,” investigators said.

Subsequently, the culprit fled the scene.

According to police, the victim and culprit were known to each other, and authorities believe it wasn’t a random act.

Officials have refrained from disclosing information regarding the victim, including his name and age, at this time.

In a past police appeal to the public, 49-year-old Andrew Galea—of no fixed address—was allegedly identified as the individual wanted in connection with the homicide.

Residents were urged to exercise caution, as Galea was considered armed. Anyone who spotted him was advised to dial 911 immediately and avoid approaching him.

On Friday (May 3) Galea was arrested and charged with second-degree murder.

He was also held for a bail hearing.

Anyone with information about this investigation is asked to contact the Homicide and Missing Persons Bureau at 905-453-2121 extension 3205.
